Florida doesnβt usually see temps/wind-chills in the 20s – but this week reminded us that winter can hit hard, even here. With wind chills feeling even colder, many of us are pulling on sweaters, turning up the heat, and enjoying warm meals at home.
But not everyone in our community has that comfort.
This chilly stretch is a gentle reminder of how meaningful small acts of kindness can be. A warm blanket. A coat. A pair of gloves. A bag of groceries. Or even a simple $20 donation – all of it adds up to warmth, nourishment, and hope for someone who needs it.
And just in case you needed a little seasonal nudge: Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on Groundhog Day, predicting six more weeks of winter. That makes this an especially good time to help our neighbors stay warm and well.
Our February 5 food bank distribution will be another opportunity to share both food and warm items with our walk-up population. If you have gently used blankets, coats, gloves, or hats – or if youβre able to donate food or funds – we would be so grateful.

Thank you for being the kind of community that shows up – especially when the temperatures drop. Together, we can turn cold days into moments of warmth and care. π
