This Fourth of July, our country celebrates an incredible milestone: America’s 250th birthday.
For many of us, this week will be filled with family cookouts, fireworks, vacations, parades, pool days, and time spent with the people we love.
As we celebrate our nation’s birthday, we often think about the things that make America special.
Freedom.
Opportunity.
Community.
Neighbors helping neighbors.
And perhaps one of the greatest traditions of all: caring for one another.
In today’s world, it can sometimes feel like we have more things dividing us than bringing us together. Headlines, social media, politics, and daily stresses can make us forget that our communities are still filled with good people doing good things.
At Seeds of Hope, we see that goodness every week.
We see neighbors helping neighbors.
Students volunteering their time.
Families donating food.
Children collecting items to help others.
People from different backgrounds, different beliefs, and different walks of life coming together for one simple purpose: helping local families who need a little extra support.
And that isn’t political.
It’s personal.
It’s human.
It’s community.
This summer, as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, perhaps the very best birthday gift we can give our country is kindness.
Maybe it’s a bag of groceries.
Maybe it’s a donation.
Maybe it’s volunteering for an evening.
Maybe it’s helping your children learn the importance of serving others.
Maybe it’s simply checking on a neighbor.
Every act of generosity strengthens the very things that make our communities special.
If your family has been blessed this year, consider sharing a small part of those blessings with someone who may be struggling.
Donate non-perishable food.
Give a financial gift.
Volunteer your time.
